Liberals commit 100000 to Cypriots

first_img Facebook Twitter: @NeosKosmos Instagram The Victorian Liberal party has committed $100,000 to the Cypriot Community of Melbourne if elected in the November 27 elections. “People are scared to walk down King Street at night, I certainly wouldn’t” Nick Kotsiras, Liberal MP, VictoriaNicholas Kotsiras the Victoria’s Shadow Minister for Multicultural Affairs told guests at the Cyprus Community Annual ball last week that the grant will be for the organisation of a festival. “The Cyprus Community has been a strong advocate for the Cypriot community since 1934” said Mr Kotsiras to Neos Kosmos. “The $100,000 is committed, it’s in my policy, it’s new money” responded Mr Kostiras when asked if he will honour the promise if elected. “It is important to recognise of the 80 years of service the Cyprus Community has provided its members and its about culture and tradition” he added.Mr Kotsiras was cautiously optimistic about the Opposition’s electoral chances on the November 27 Victorian State elections. “I believe it will be close, a lot closer than people expect” he said. “As we get into November people begin to think about the election and about issues that concern them and the way the Brumby Government has dealt with these issues” Mr Kotsiras said. He highlighted the issue of transport and planning in his electoral Bulleen, “We are over developed and in terms of transport there is no train system and we have to rely on busses which are often late.” On state issues “law and order” was identified by Mr Kotsiras who said “People are scared to walk down King Street at night, I certainly wouldn’t”.
