Positive Mental Health: Are you using the four Ls every day?

first_imgListen, Look, Laugh, and Link up is the new message from the Donegal Youth Council and the GAA Health & Wellbeing Committee. The two groups came together to launch their mental health campaign for World Mental Health Day 2017, but want to encourage us all to take care of ourselves, and each other every day of the year. The Donegal Youth Council also paid a visit to Coláiste Ailigh, Royal & Prior and St Columbas College to talk about mental health and the 4 Ls campaign on Tuesday the 10th of October for World Mental Health Day. The 4 Ls MessageListen, out for our family, friends, neighbours, community and be available to them in a time of need.Look, out for each other, the young, and the elderly those who are vulnerable, those living alone, those who are being bullied and those who might be sad.Laughter, laugh at ourselves, laugh with others, life can be serious but your smile could warm up someone’s day.Link up, stop talking about it and go and do it. Make that link, connection, phone call, text, e mail, card, or better still a visit from youThe campaign aims to send out a simple, but important message around minding your mental health and that of your family, friends, colleagues and community. All too often in this busy and hectic world, we tend to overlook the simple things that can make a difference to minding our mental health.Carlyn Maguire, DYC Coordinator shared why this project was important to the Donegal Youth Council: “The Donegal Youth Council feel passionate about mental health, and they were delighted to have the opportunity to reach out to the wider community about this important issue. The 4 Ls message is simple, and if you put the 4 Ls into practice today you can start making a difference to all of our mental health.”Donegal Youth Council is funded by Donegal County Council, HSE Health Promotion and the Department of Children & Youth Affairs and is co-ordinated at local level by the Donegal Youth Service.
