The Palmdale Playhouse Art Gallery will feature tropical-themed paintings by Becky Misso in an exhibit that opens Wednesday and runs through June 17 at the playhouse, located at 38334 10th St. East in Palmdale. A public reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday. Using acrylics on canvas, wood and vertical blinds, Misso creates visions of a tropical paradise that are picture-postcard perfect. Her highly detailed watercolors bring a sense of peace and tranquility to the viewer. “My paintings and murals evoke visions of a far-off tropical paradise of long ago … unspoiled, undisturbed, welcoming and inviting,” said Misso. “I have always dreamed of beautiful, mystic places in my mind’s eye – places where I could go to relax.” Gallery hours are noon to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
