The School PsychologyProgram is housed within the Psychology Department and has a strongrecord of educating future school psychologists who positivelyimpact children’s learning outcomes. The program grants anEducation Specialist degree and is approved by the NationalAssociation of School Psychologists ( NASP ). This position isaffiliated with the School of Education, Professional, andContinuing Education ( EPC ) and the dean of the EPC will providefeedback regarding hiring and personnel reviews to the department.School of Education affiliated faculty are expected to be engagedin service and scholarly activities that inform and enhance thework they do with prospective teachers. Some additional work hoursoutside the academic school year may be required in order to alignduties with the PK-12 school year. We especiallyencourage applications from members of historicallyunder-represented groups, those whose work furthers the program’sdiversity and inclusion efforts, and those who bring to campusvaried life experiences, perspectives and backgrounds.Position Description: The four full-time faculty in the programoperate as a team and rely on individual and collective strengths.As such, we prefer an applicant who can contribute in one or moreof the following ways: engage in high impact teaching practices onthe diagnosis and positive change of behavior concerns in childrenand adolescent; increase community engagement and collaborationwith schools and other community institutions serving children andadolescents; experience and/or interest in grant writing; andexperience and/or interest in online programming. Graduate teachingexpectations are a 3-3 course load and may include courses, such asBehavior Assessment & Management, Psychological Consultation& Collaboration, and other courses within the applicant’sinterest area. Other graduate duties include supervision of Ed.S.capstone projects and supervision of student practica andinternships. Occasional undergraduate course offerings appropriateto the candidate’s training and expertise are a possibility.Consistent with our practitioner/scholar training philosophy, weoffer a two-credit reassignment to work in local schools on arotating basis. Additional responsibilities include maintaining anactive scholarship agenda, and providing service to the department,university, community, and profession. Academic year salary iscompetitive and commensurate with experience with excellent fringebenefits and insurance programs.General position summary statement for UWL facultypositions:Under general supervision of department chair, a person in thisposition is responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduatecourses, and advising students. In addition to preparing for andholding classes [face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online], teachinginvolves maintaining currency in the content area related to theteaching assignment, evaluating students’ work, assessing studentoutcomes, maintaining appropriate records, and holding officehours. The individual is expected to maintain an active, on-goingprogram of scholarship appropriate to the discipline. In addition,this individual will provide service to the department, college,and university and is likely expected to provide service to thecommunity and/or the profession. Other duties may be assigned bythe chair or dean.Required Qualifications• Earned (or nearly completed) doctorate in School Psychology, or aclosely related field, by August 31, 2020. The degree must beearned by the first personnel review, no later than May 15,2021.• At least one year of School Psychology experience or theequivalent, as approved by the EPC Dean, in prekindergarten throughgrade 12 settings.Preferred Qualifications• A strong commitment to training in and identity with SchoolPsychology.• Evidence of potential for effective teaching and researchinvolving students in higher education settings.• Expertise in behavior assessment and intervention.• Interest/expertise in collaborating with community agencies todevelop high impact learning opportunities for students.• Interest/evidence in federal and external grant writing.• Interest/expertise in the design and delivery of online learningopportunities.• At least three years of School Psychology experience or theequivalent, as approved by the EPC Dean, in prekindergarten throughgrade 12 settings.Physical DemandsWorking conditions and environmentMiscellaneous InformationA competitive recruitment and selection process was conducted forthis employment opportunity and a U.S. worker was not selected.
